B.Tech - Civil Engineering (CE)

Course Established in the Year 2004

Total Seats Available: 60

The Civil Engineering Department caters to the ever increasing demand of Civil Engineers in Industry & Academia. The students are groomed to be thorough professionals with blend of up-to-date technical knowledge and field experience gained during internship. Various courses like Structural Analysis, Advanced foundation Engineering, GIS & Remote Sensing, Earthquake Resistant Design, to name a few, have been included as a part of curriculum to keep pace with the emerging fields. It has a great opportunity in the Government Sectors like IES, PWD, Irrigation Department, CWC, and large number of Government projects of NHAI and Infrastructure etc.

Civil Engineering is the discipline that traditionally covers streams such as Earthquake Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geo technical Engineering, Geophysics, Control Engineering, Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Municipal or Urban Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Materials Engineering, Offshore Engineering, Coastal Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Geodesy, Surveying and Construction Engineering etc.

Future Career Scope

  •  Graduates can choose from industries like Government and Non-Government Sectors, PSU’s, Construction and Management, Software, Consulting, Aerospace, Research, etc.
  • Graduates may pursue their Masters’ in varied fields such as Structural Engineering, Construction and Management, Environmental Engineering, Water Resource Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Geo-technical Engineering, GIS, Non-Destructive Testing, etc.
  • Graduates are placed in core industries such as L&T, Ambuja Cement, Supertech Infra etc.

Civil Engineering @ MPGI

It is a four-year course which is spread over eight semesters. The program consists of a set of core and elective subjects, Lab Works, Survey Camps, Industrial Training, Seminars and Project Work aimed at in-depth studies on specific topics. The field/industrial visits are organised for students to expose them to the issues and challenges associated with real life problems.

Growth of Civil Engineering

According to a report by Global Market Insights Inc. on Globe Newswire, the Civil Engineering industry is expected to reach a size of USD 11.72 trillion by 2025.

As a country, we are developing faster than ever especially when it comes to infrastructure. Forty years ago nobody would have thought that the commute between Bandra and World could have been completed in lesser than 40-50 minutes. Today, we can cover this distance in just eight minutes, This is only possible due to the Bandra-Worli Sea Link (BWSL) constructed in the Arabian sea; built by our civil engineers.

The BSWL is just one of the many examples that show how we are coming up with innovative solutions to meet the changing requirements. The requirement for such modern developments is bound to grow. If students are willing to work on groundbreaking developments, Civil Engineering provides them with a room to grow and a chance to hone their skills.
